About JapanSnowWatch — Our Data and Editorial Policy

JapanSnowWatch collects live webcams, snow depth, weather and lift ticket data for ski resorts across Japan. Here is where the data comes from and how we mark unverified figures.

JapanSnowWatch is an independent site that gathers live webcams, snow depth, weather and lift ticket data for ski areas across Japan, sourced from resort announcements, meteorological data and publicly published camera feeds.

Only figures we can trace to official material are treated as confirmed; everything else is labelled estimated. A camera is marked live only when we can see it streaming, and off-season feeds say so.

The site runs in Japanese, English and Korean. Weather refreshes hourly and lift ticket prices are revised each season. Corrections are welcome.

We cover 513 ski areas and 123 live webcams in total, across Hokkaido, Nagano Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture, Yamagata Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Gunma Prefecture, Fukushima Prefecture, Akita Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, Fukui Prefecture, Yamanashi Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, Aomori Prefecture, Shiga Prefecture.
